Happy Feet on Diversity Day

Diversity Day 2019.JPG

Glorious sunshine saw nearly 400 visitors to the Community Diversity Event on Saturday 6th July. The Nusmoor Centre Trust (NCT) were delighted to work with 10 organisations to bring together our diverse community, in an event packed with music, drumming, arts & crafts, face-painting, sports activities and refreshments.

All ages had a go at Bollywood dancing and children got stuck into hammering and twisting all sorts of creations with Wireworks. The ever-popular Junk Music gave children a chance to make and play their own instruments. It would not be possible without the time and dedication of our wonderful volunteers! THANK YOU!

Many organisations including the Angelou Centre, Greening Wingrove , Shared Lives and Slimming World came along to let people know about the range of services available in the area.  The Millin Centre talked about the training and support to encourage women to start their own businesses, while GET CONNECTED & SPORTS CONNECT talked about the great work they do to support young people with additional needs to get out and take part in music, dance and sporting activities.

The Community Police team brought along hats and equipment to dress up in and raised awareness of hate crime and harassment , including racial harassment. The Fire service also had information in several languages. The NCT shared information about the ACCESS Fund, which supports young people wit additional needs to access sports.
